Our Family
Sandhill Crane Vineyards is a family owned and operated winery dedicated to making wine with 100% Michigan-grown fruit!
It all started when Norm Moffatt began growing grapes and making wine as a hobby after retiring in as an officer in Detroit, MI. His wife, sister, and two daughters got involved, and the five of them turned his hobby into a business! In 2003, they unveiled SCV to the public!
Holly is our winemaker while her partner, Kirk, is the vineyard manager. Her daughters, Lani and Pauline, are essential parts of our family business and have grown up at SCV. Our SCV family also includes longtime employee, Shelly, who works in the vineyard,
and tests the chemistry of our wines and Matthew, who works
in the cellar and does many odd jobs!
Norm, Alice & Annie are no longer with us, their
memories radiate throughout the winery & vineyard.
